-

Susan Campbell and Terry Dunsford, two well-known Island musicians, will be joining Colleen MacPhee, host of the Winsloe United Church ceilidh on Monday, June 11, starting at 7:30 p.m.

This is a fundraiser for Winsloe United Church, which is wheelchair accessible, with plenty of parking and is located at 121 Winsloe Rd. next to the Confederation Trail. Tickets are $10 at the door with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. There will be a light lunch served.

Singing comes naturally for Campbell as she has been performing in bands since the age of 15 with various groups in the Souris area. Originally from Dundas, she is on stages at many ceilidhs and entertains the Seniors at the Bay View Lodge in Souris. A resident of Stratford, she also sings the anthem at some of the Islanders’ hockey games.

Dunsford has been entertaining audiences for many years and brings lots of energy to his performance. In 1973, P.E.I.’s centennial year, Dunsford was invited by the provincial government to represent P.E.I. in a cross-country tour. During that time he had the honour to perform for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.

Dunsford was also a member of the popular dance bands the Blue Crystals and Ryder, as well as The Classics andwas a part of the popular Christmas event, Jingle Bell Rock.

Dunsford continues to perform as a solo artist as well as with various groups such as The Dunsford Boys and Still Rockin, playing all the great songs from the 1950s to the 1980s and today. Dunsford’s repetoire encompasses every style of music from country, pop, classic rock and roll to Irish singalong songs. His vocal range allows him to sing ballads ranging from Roy Orbison’s “Crying” to great Irish classics such as “Danny Boy” to today’s great dance and sing-along songs like “Wagon Wheel”.

MacPhee, who is a member of Lady Singers of our Century, will be performing songs from a variety of different artists. Susan Campbell and Terry Dunsford, along with Colleen MacPhee and the house band, are performing for a fundraising ceilidh at Winsloe United Monday evening.
