West River Ambyr, Sodwana Bay win series events

-

The outside post did not prove to be a factor for West River Ambyr on Sunday afternoon.

The five-year-old by Western Paradise-Lots Abunny-Precious Bunny charged down the stretch to win the first of two $3,870 Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series events at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway. Stephen Shepherd drove West River Ambyr to the 1:57.4 victory from Post 7 over a fast-rated racing surface.

Brief Interlude (driven by Adam Merner) finished in the place position (second), and Jason Hughes steered Best Risqhue to a thirdplace finish.

Second division

In the second division, veteran driver Gilles Barrieau drove Sodwana Bay, a five-year-old by No Pan Intended-Paradise Cove-No Nukes, to the winner’s circle from Post 2. Time of the mile was 1:55.3 – the fastest trip of the matinee program.

Merner and Prettyndangerous finished second, with Ramblinglily and Gary Chappell working their way to third from Post 8.

Other winners on the 13-dash card were:

Moramappo (2:00.2), Sandhill Star (1:58.4), Inspector Murdoch (1:59.2), Old Buck (1:57.2), Private Dancer (2:01), Diduseethat (1:59.1), JJ Powerball (1:56.1), One Hot Camshaft (1:56.4), Dustylanesam (1:58), Mando Fun (1:56.2) and Offshore Cowboy (1:58.1).
