Capital City Canada Day celebrations begin at noon on Sunday, July 1 and end with fireworks that will be launched from the Victoria Park Boardwalk (behind the cannons) at 10 p.m.

As a result, the Victoria Park Roadway will be closed to traffic (with the exception of event and emergency vehicles) from 1 p.m. today until approximately 11 p.m. on July 1 (at the conclusion of the event). The designated cycling lane will close to cyclists at 6 a.m. on July 1 until the conclusion of the event.

The Victoria Park Driveway, from the Victoria Park Roadway to the Tennis Courts, will also be closed to traffic (with the exception of event and emergency vehicles) from 1 p.m. today until approximately 11 p.m. on July 1.

To accommodate accessible parking, the Brighton Road entrance and parking lot (next to the ball field) will be closed to the general public from 6 a.m. July 1 until the conclusion of the event. A valid parking permit, licence plate or ID will be required.

The public is encouraged to use the government parking lot on Terry Fox Drive or consider active or sustainable transportation such as walking, biking, and carpooling. Police are asking the public not to park along Brighton Road between Ambrose Street and Queen Elizabeth Drive, as well as the intersection of Brighton Road and Queen Elizabeth Drive, Greenfield Avenue, Goodwill Avenue, Century Terrace, and Ambrose Street out of respect for residents living in the area.

City pool hours for Canada Day are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Victoria Park pool and 1-5 p.m. for the Simmons Pool.

The Kiwanis Dairy Bar in Victoria Park will remain open throughout the weekend.

All T3 Transit services will be operating on the regular schedules for July 1 and July 2. To access the schedule, visit: T3transit.ca. The downtown parkades will be free and open to the public on July 1.

Capital City Canada Day celebrations are rain or shine. However, in the event of extreme weather, any delay or cancellation will be announced through Facebook, Twitter and local media. If the fireworks are unable to be held because of weather conditions, such as change in wind direction or high velocity winds, they will be rescheduled to July 2 at 10 p.m. If the fireworks are held on July 2, T3 Transit will operate on its regular schedule.
