Former Bronco and family killed in car crash
Officials say a former Humboldt Broncos player and his family were among the six people who died in a car crash in southwestern Saskatchewan on Friday.
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League expressed its condolences for the death of 26-yearold Troy Gasper of Rosetown, Sask., noting he was a former Bronco.
An elementary school in Rosetown also said one of its students, Kael Gasper, and her family were killed in the collision.
Police say the family of five — including three children aged six, four and two — died after their SUV was involved in what RCMP described as a head-on collision with another vehicle just north of Elrose, Sask.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued a statement congratulating Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on his victory in Mexico’s presidential election.
In the statement, Trudeau highlighted Canada’s close ties with Mexico and promoted the trade relationship, zeroing in on the ongoing efforts to renegotiate NAFTA.
“Canada and Mexico are close friends and longtime partners. We share common goals, strong people to people ties, and a mutually beneficial trading relationship that is the envy of the world - reflected in our joint effort to update the North American Free Trade Agreement for the 21st century,” Trudeau said.
Donald Trump has also congratulated Lopez Obrador on winning the presidency, however the U.S. president has said he intends to hold off on signing a new NAFTA deal until after America’s fall midterm elections. A leftist, Lopez Obrador has promised Mexicans that profound change is coming to the country, but says individual and property rights will be guaranteed.
