MACVICAR, Lillian Pearl

Lillian died at her home at Andrews of Stratford as the dawn broke on a new day. She died as she lived, with faith in her Lord and with dignity. For those who had the privilege to know her throughout her 100 years on this earth, her departure brings both sorrow for her loss and joy that she has been called home. Lillian grew up in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba the eldest of 5 children. She had a job she loved with the Christianson family and their John Deere dealership which resulted in a lifelong excitement when she saw the signature green and yellow. In 1974 she moved to Vancouver to live closer to family members. Lillian loved living in “the City” and enjoyed the temperate climate and the ready access to great shopping, especially for shoes. There she embarked on a new adventure as the bookkeeper and office manager with a large towing and taxi company. Lillian loved her work and enjoyed the chance it gave her to be around people from all walks of life in a busy and varying environment. Working with numbers was a passion of hers and family and friends have fond memories of her fingers flying over an adding machine. In 1998, at the age of 80, Lillian took the plunge and moved to Prince Edward Island to be with family. It was a difficult transition but she came to love Prince Edward Island as her own and to believe that it was a little slice of heaven on earth. The years between 80 and 100 were filled with travel, friends and church groups. An avid walker, her daily treks took her on many adventures. Living as a Christian and connecting with people were Lillian’s passions in life. She lived by the motto “only connect” and maintaining relationships, new and old, was a priority. Her annual Christmas letter was mailed out far and wide, and birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions for friends and family never passed without a card or a call (or both) from her. She was a large presence in the life of all she touched and will be missed dearly. Her family: Marilyn, Frank, Mary and Laura (Nicholson), Daniel, Cheri and Brian (Bradley), and her nieces, nephews and cousins from the Case and MacVicar families are grateful for each day she graced their lives. Her adopted PEI Nicholson family, including Sheila, Joe, Jordan, Luke and Michael (Rowledge), Merrill and David and Dorothy, will treasure their memories. Her loss will be felt by her wonderful church family at Central Christian, the staff and other residents of Andrews of Stratford, and by all her other cherished friends and family in Charlottetown, Portage la Prairie, Vancouver, Seoul. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at Central Christian Church, Charlottetown, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018. As per Lillian’s wishes, a visitation and reception will follow the Memorial Service in the Church Hall (5 – 7 p.m.). Family flowers only. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Central Christian Church Building Fund or the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation.
