Peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Wednesday, July 04, 2018 of Marilyn Dawn MacDonald (nee Wood) R.N., B.N., in her 61st year. Loving wife and best friend of Leo, adored mother of Leanne (Jason) MacNeil, Craig, and Rory (Melissa). Grammy of Carter, Malcolm, Noa and Alex. Beloved daughter of Doris and the late Wallace Wood. Sister of Gordon Wood, Nancy (the late David) Cook, Carol Fecteau, Janice Wood and Bruce (Bronwyn) Wood. Daughter-in-law of Dunstan (Heather) MacDonald and sister-in-law of Paul (Debbie), Cameron, Andrew (Nancy) and Colin (Vicki). Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Saturday at 11 a.m. from Park Royal United Church. The funeral for Joe Thistle was held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home to St. Dunstan’s Basilica where the concelebrated funeral mass was offered by Fr. Charlie Cheverie as chief celebrant and homilist. He was assisted by Fr. Alban Arsenault. The funeral pall was placed on Joe’s casket by his wife Sylvia and granddaughter Emily Baker. The paschal candle was lit by son-in-law Ted Lawlor. The first reading was proclaimed by grandson Wayd McNally and the second reading was proclaimed by son Rick Thistle. The prayers of intercession were offered by daughter Debbie Thompson. The funeral mass was sung by St. Dunstan’s Parish Choir under the direction of organist Leo Marchildon. They sang the entrance hymn, Be Not Afraid, the offertory hymn, Prayer of St. Francis, the communion hymn, Dona Nobis Pacem and the recessional hymn, How Great Thou Art. The meditation solo, Ave Maria was rendered by Anne Tingley. The pallbearers were grandchildren, Curtis Thompson, Keith Thompson,David McNally, Randy McNally, Brent Thistle, Justin Thistle, Craig Lawlor, Brad Lawlor and Trevor Thistle. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Knights of Columbus. Among those attending the funeral were members of the Royal Canadian Legion, B.I.S, the Knights of Columbus and staff of the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home. The interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, where Fr. Charlie Cheverie held the graveside service.
