Virtuosos take Indian River stage

An award-winning Vancouver Island singer is set to take the stage at Indian River Festival this week.

Today at 7:30 p.m., piano wizard Michael Kaeshammer will showcase his triple threat talents. The piano virtuoso with a technical mastery of many different styles, an eloquent singer/songwriter, an engaging performer is an exciting addition to the 2018 festival.

“The season is well underway and we are pleased to bring another great lineup this weekend. Michael is making the trek all the way from B.C. to visit us and we have been looking forward to having him here for a long time,” said Don Quarles, executive director of the Indian River Festival.

Then on July 8, at 3 p.m., Kinley and Dennis Ellsworth will take the stage for a matinee performanc­e.

“Anyone who knows Dennis Ellsworth and Kinley Dowling, know they are in for a real treat as when they are together, the building will explode with great songs and beautiful harmonies,” says Quarles.

Friends and musical collaborat­ors for several years, at the upcoming performanc­e, they will share music from their recent album.

The festival, now in its 23rd year, includes the best in folk, jazz, blues, roots, classical, choral, traditiona­l and contempora­ry music.

The lineup of artists for 2018 Indian River Festival summer season includes, Lennie Gallant, Amanda Jackson, Mike Biggar, Payadora Tango Ensemble, Chris Norman, Trio Tangere, Justin Nozuka, The Sweet Lowdown, Marc Djokic and Isabel Bayrakdari­an, Dave Carroll, The Ennis Sisters, Alicia Toner, Hillsburn, Ensemble Made in Canada and more.

All concerts take place in St. Mary’s Church on Hamilton Road in Indian River. Doors open one hour prior to concert time.
