Tribute to Lady Singers of our Century in concert at Winsloe United Church

The Lady Singers of our Century returns to Winsloe United Church on Monday, July 9 , starting at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the concert, which is a fundraiser for the church, are $12 and can be purchased at the door which opens at 6:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served. This group of Island performers has been working hard to present a new show and will be paying tribute to a wide variety of artists.

Hosts Joan Reeves and Judy McGregor, will be singing familiar songs of Connie Francis as well as songs of their favourite gym teacher Anne Murray. They have also put together some great stories and jokes that will keep the audience entertaine­d and laughing.

Jolee Patkai is looking forward to once again paying tribute to her favourite female country artist, Loretta Lynn, singing her most requested songs. Patkai will also pay tribute to Crystal Gayle, Lynn’s sister.

Jacinta MacDonald is sharing the stage at this concert and will be paying tribute to Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette. MacDonald has won many talent show, has performed at the Country Music Week in Hamilton, Ont., and at the Canadian National Exhibition in Vancouver, B.C. She is also featured on the Christmas album, “Stars of the Island”, and has recorded her own album, “Good Old Maritimes”. She was the opening act for Wayne Rostand from “On the Road Again” and is involved in the music ministry at her church.

Colleen MacPhee will be paying tribute once again to her favourite singer, the late Rita MacNeil. She will be singing all new material of Rita’s except for “The Working Man”, which is the final song.

The church, which is located at 121 Winsloe Rd., is wheelchair­accessible and offers plenty of parking.
