A memorial mass will be celebrated in honour of Mel Green Thursday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Stratford, P.E. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery after mass. A lunch hosted by the Catholic Women’s League will follow in the church hall. The CWL will also host a prayer service for Mel Wednesday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. All are welcome!

At the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Friday, July 13, 2018 of George “Irwin” Newman, of Cornwall, aged 68 years. Beloved husband, soulmate and “best” friend of Sereita (Neill). Dear father of Jill MacMillan (Chad) and Jeannie Newman (Bobby Campbell). Cherished Poppy of Chase and Cody MacMillan and Grayson Campbell. Brother of Ralph (Marjorie) and Lloyd (Linda). Brother-in-law of Robert Roberts. Predecease­d by his parents Alton and Florence (Campbell) Newman, brother Wilfred Newman (Victoria), sister Eleanor Roberts, parents-in-law Omer and Eileen (Younker) Neill and sister-in-law Sally MacNeill. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at West River United Church, Cornwall, on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Kingston United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Provincial Palliative Care Centre or West River United Church.

The funeral for Sterling “Shorty” Williams was held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel where the service was was presided over by Fr. Dovari Joseph who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The organist was Helen MacRae. During the service Kendall Docherty sang Here I Am Lord, On Eagle’s Wings and How Great Thou Art. The readings were proclaimed by Sterling Williams and Sherri Hogan. Joanne Lajeunesse led the Assembly in the Prayers of the Faithful. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Pallbearer­s were Sterling Williams, Trevor Williams, Marc Allard, Parker Williams, Ben Maillet and Jeff Maillet. Those attending the funeral liturgy included members of the Retired Police Officers Associatio­n. Following the service, everyone was invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshmen­ts in the Belvedere Reception Centre.
