A Governor’s Plate finalist will put his nose on the starting gate against seven seasoned foes in an action-packed program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Thursday.

The 12-dash program kicks off at 6:30 p.m., with the featured pace hitting the track in Race 11.

Nogreatmischief is the morning-line choice in that $2,200 event from Post 6 for trainerdriver Walter Cheverie of Nine Mile Creek, who owns the hardclosing son of Bettor’s Delight along with Brian Thompson of Charlottetown.

Nogreatmischief last raced in the $25,000 Governor’s Plate final on July 14, finishing seventh, and now drops in class to meet his present company.

Likely To Win was a winner in his latest outing in 1:55.4 for driver Adam Merner, and the Gary Chappell-driven Oh To Be Me draws Post 7 fresh off a victory in 1:55.2 Saturday night in Charlottetown.

Jackson K Downs also draws respect as a top choice. After drawing the farthest out in his last two starts, Jackson K Downs gets Post 2 this week with Corey MacPherson at the controls.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac likes the chances of Nogreatmischief to deliver as the favourite.

“Nogreatmischief has become a bit camera shy this year, but in his defence just look at the company he’s been keeping,” MacIsaac said. “Since he should find these more to his liking, he might be just a good trip away from a win.”

Other Thursday top-class entries include Rocking Indy (Jason Hughes), Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton), Southwind Ricardo (Marc Campbell) and Give Em Heck (Gilles Barrieau).

=The top pacing mare race of the night is in Race7 for an $1,800 purse. Prettyndangerous (Barrieau) is favoured over Good Luck Kathy (Earl Smith) and Outrageous Spirit (Gordie Hennessey).

Isabella Hanover will look to repeat in the open trot in Race 6 for a $1,950 purse after the Yankee Glide mare won last week in 1:59.1 for driver Adam Merner and trainer Stephen Gass.

Holy Molie Maggie is another top pick from Post 4 for driver Cheverie, as well as Post 6 starter Majian Tango (Jim Ripley).

Another hard-hitting group of mares line up in the Race 12 finale as Drivingthedragon N is favoured off the rail for trainerdriver Hughes and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. Other top entries in the $1,500 class are Shadows Mystery (Merner) and Bettim Vicky (Jeff Lilley).
