The Close to the Ground Concert Series continues at the Kaylee Hall, Pooles Corner today at 8 p.m. as hosts Fiddlers’ Sons welcome Tara MacLean, Cynthia MacLeod and Todd MacLean as special musical guests.

Tara MacLean is an awardwinning singer, songwriter, recording and touring artist. The daughter of accomplished actress Sharlene MacLean and Danny Costain, a singer and dancer from British Columbia, she was also influenced greatly by her stepfather, Marty Reno, a songwriter/guitarist, best known for his recording work with Canadian recording star Gene MacLellan.

From 2002 to 2007, she was a member of Shaye, along with Kim Stockwood and Damhnait Doyle. A proud seventh-generation Islander and a 20-year veteran of the music industry, she has returned home to write, produce, direct and star in her own show called “Atlantic Blue”. The show and an album celebrate Canadian East Coast songwriters and feature covers of songs by Rita MacNeil, The Rankin Family, Stompin’ Tom Connors, Hank Snow, Gene MacLellan, Lennie Gallant, Stan Rogers and more.

She will be accompanied on stage at Kaylee Hall by fiddler Cynthia MacLeod and multi-instrumentalist Todd MacLean.

The air-conditioned Kaylee Hall is located at the intersection of routes 3 and 4 near Montague. There will be a canteen service, a 50/50 draw and CDs and books available for sale from the performers. All ages are welcome; admission is at the door.
