Singing, dancing in the spotlight
Performers announced for July 29 concert in Mont-Carmel
The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is in full throttle for the 2018 season every Sunday until Aug. 26, and the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) has announced the artists who will be performing at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, July 29.
The artists who will take the stage of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall for the fourth of eight shows are Imagine!, Christian “Kit” Goguen and Louise Vautour, Jessica Rhaye and Peter Arsenault and family. There will also be step-dancing by Maria Arsenault and Thomas Arsenault.
Imagine! is a group formed by Alice Bérubé, Marie Arsenault and Paula Doyle-Arsenault, a trio who loves music, laughing and playing tunes together. DoyleArsenault and Arsenault were born in Prince Edward Island and Bérubé is originally from Manitoba. They present a mixture of songs and traditional pieces that bring together Acadian, Métis and Quebec cultures.
A singer/songwriter, actor and motivational speaker, Goguen was a country boy dreaming of one day making music his fulltime career. Since 2014, he has performed over 3,000 shows across the world. His voice, his words and his music have resonated within the walls of Radio City Music Hall in New York City as well as major capitals with Cirque du Soleil. Vautour, who is passionate about music and has lived in a musical universe since a young age, has been playing music since the age of 13, studying traditional music in Dublin and opening a fiddle school in northern New Brunswick. She’s travelled the world with her fiddle and was a member of numerous groups including Ode à l’Acadie. In 2009, she released an album of her original tunes entitled “Traces”.
Inspired by Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, singer/songwriter Rhaye’s fifth full-length album, “Song in Me”, shows the New Brunswick artist fully embracing her style and moving easily between folk and Americana.
Peter Arsenault, the well-known fiddler from the Evangeline area, will also perform. He will be accompanied by members of his family and their energetic music will resonate at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall as well as warm up the floor for the step dancers.
