This fundraising dinner, auction, and show in support of the Prince County Hospital Foundation will take place on Sept. 8 at the Credit Union Place.
Attended each year by a crowd of more than 1,300, guests are treated to live entertainment all evening by local musicians and they will be joined this year by comedian Jimmy the Janitor. The steak and lobster dinner will be back on the menu and will be followed by a live auction with Allison Smith and a cavalcade of wonderful items up for grabs. The evening will culminate with a draw for a brand-new Jeep Wrangler Sport, courtesy of the organizer Warren Ellis and Summerside Chrysler Dodge.
Ellis and his family have been the main benefactors of this event since it began. The concept of a small dinner has blossomed over the years into a large, successful fundraising event.
Since 2009, it has raised $5,421,000 in cash donations and future pledges to support the purchase of medical equipment for the Prince County Hospital. For many years, the medical equipment needed for patients at PCH has been provided through the kindness of public donations just like these.
“The support of this fundraiser and the donations made that night are of the utmost importance to our organization and our mission to make sure the medical professionals at PCH have everything they need to continue to provide the best patient care on P.E.I.,” said Liz Maynard, vicepresident of the PCH Foundation.
This year, the foundation must raise more than $1.5 million for medical equipment and technology at PCH. Paramount on the list this year is the need to replace the equipment in the main digital radiography room. That piece alone is valued at $550,000. A host of other important items needed in a variety of departments at PCH make up the Vital Signs Appeal for 2018; a complete list of which is available on pchare.com.
Tickets for Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots are on sale now for $100 each at Summerside Chrysler Dodge or by calling 902853-7160. Each ticket entitles the purchaser to dinner, entertainment and a chance to win the jeep. Limited tickets are also available at the PCH Foundation office in the hospital lobby.
