Singer Sarah Smith in capital tonight

-

Sarah Smith is heading east. The London, Ontario-based singer/songwriter is making several stops in the Maritimes this month as a warm-up for her second full-band European tour.

The tour, which includes combined shows with medium Tania Thomas, comes to the Old Triangle on today at 7 p.m.

And although she’s played across Canada and the United States and in many parts of Europe, the East Coast remains one of her favourite places to play.

“There’s just so much energy in the Maritimes, and people really love live music. This time I’m bringing my trio with me, which is going to be a lot of fun,” says Smith.

The singer-songwriter has had a busy 2018. In addition to extensive touring on her most recent CD, 11, she released a live CD recorded at London, Ontario’s famed Aeolian Hall, and the book “November: A Month in Europe with Sarah Smith”, written by her touring drummer, John Huff.

Her latest single, “Trust the Ride,” was released to radio in August.

Following a brief return to Ontario after the east coast run, Smith and her full band will fly to Amsterdam for a month of shows in Germany and The Netherlands, where she has worked hard over the past few years to build a devoted following.

Sarah is known for her uplifting lyrics, high-energy shows and incredible voice. She has played over 300 shows per year as an independent artist.

She has shared the stage with artists including Melissa Etheridge, Sass Jordan, Emm Gryner, Craig Cardiff, Joel Plaskett, David Wilcox, and others.

Smith’s albums include “Live in Concert” (2018),”11” (2016), “The Journey” (2014), and Stronger Now (2012).

In 2015, she released the live DVD “Sarah Smith: Plugged and Unplugged”.
