Burridge seeks Ward 2 seat in Stratford

-

Jill Burridge has announced her candidacy for Ward 2 in Stratford in the Nov. 5 municipal election.

Burridge is a professional land surveyor with a background in urban and rural planning.

She has lived and worked in the town with her husband, Brian, and their two young children, Lucy and Jack, since 2013.

As long-time employees of Midwest Surveys, Jill and Brian’s careers started in western Canada but following the birth of their first child, moving back to the Island became a priority.

“When the decision was made to return to the Island, Stratford presented itself as a great place to raise kids and also provided an ideal location for a branch office,’’ said Burridge. “I now look forward to directing more of my time serving this community.’’

Burridge’s sense of community and civic duty has been ingrained in her from an early age. Both of her parents, Fred and Susan Cheverie, have always been involved in community efforts within the town of Souris.

Burridge has been actively involved Jill Burridge

with the Town of Stratford’s latest proposal for local school infrastructure and is a member of the town’s planning committee.

“Community planning, if done thoughtfully and with intention, is directly tied to a better quality of life. It creates the foundation for us, as residents, to build a vibrant community through the sustainable planning of our housing, commercial developments, roads, sidewalks and public spaces.”

Burridge also serves on Stratford’s community energy plan committee.
