The Ceilidh In the City is now in full swing for the shoulder season and with cooler September nights welcomes folks to the cozy atmosphere of the Jack Blanchard Centre in Charlottetown.

This evening’s show will feature three special guests who are being brought back for encore performances from earlier appearances in the summer series. Susan Campbell, Colleen MacPhee and Larry Campbell will all be presenting renditions of favourite country and singalong songs.

Susan Campbell has had a musical career spanning several decades on P.E.I., performing with various groups from the eastern end of the Island. Known for her voice, song repertoire and resemblance to the sound of the late Patsy Cline, Campbell has been popular for her many appearances at the ceilidh over the past eight years.

Joining her is another singer who is quickly gaining a loyal fan base on P.E.I. as she travels around the province with the Lady Singers off Our Century show portraying the music of iconic Maritime singer Rita MacNeill.

“Colleen MacPhee has a powerful voice and can sing just about any style or type of music with ease, but when she channels her inner Rita, the resemblance of her voice to Rita’s is unreal,” says ceilidh organizer Kendall Docherty.

Larry Campbell is another singer who has played all over the Island in country groups, bluegrass groups, in a dance band and as a member of the Country Legends Men of the Century show. He has a smooth easy voice and sings classic country and other types of music with ease. He is also a guitar and harmonica player.

These three musicians will be joining the weekly hosts of the Ceilidh in the City, Docherty, Peter Burke, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox, for a night of music that will get underway at 7:30 p.m. at 7 Pond St.. The doors will open for general admission at 6:30 p.m., and reservations are accepted for those travelling in large groups or with special medical or mobility needs. Additional information is available by calling Docherty at 902-569-1133 or Knox at 902-5693327 or online at facebook.com/ Ceilidh In The City.

A canteen service will be offered by the catering staff, and there will be a 50/50 draw in support of the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund, which helps out Island families in need as well as various Island charities.
