Montague man dies in New Perth collision

An 83-year-old Montague man died Friday morning after a twovehicle collision on Route 3 in New Perth.

Kings District RCMP, the Montague Fire Department and Island EMS attended the scene and closed the road to traffic.

The 83-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP reported two passengers in the second vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Preliminar­y evidence suggests

alcohol and speeding weren’t factors in the collision, and the investigat­ion is still underway,

the RCMP said. Route 3 remains closed while the traffic reconstruc­tionist completes their work.
