Belfast student dies

-

A young male student at Belfast Consolidated School died Friday after being rushed to hospital.

Kings District RCMP and Island EMS responded to a call of a medical emergency at Belfast Consolidated School around mid-day on Friday.

There is no criminality involved in this incident.

The Guardian called the school but was directed to Parker Grimmer, director of the Public Schools Branch.

Grimmer said an email was sent out to parents of the school explaining some of the events and how to support their children. He also noted that the branch immediately dispatched an emergency response team to the school.

“We will definitely have a presence there on Monday,’’ Grimmer said. “These are very skilled teams that go out and have a good ability of what they need to do. They are going to assess the situation and let us know whether we need to be back there on the weekend at any point.

“We’re there to support the community, the students and the staff in any way we can.’’
