Finale Sept. 16 for Sunday Night Shenanigans

-

Sunday Night Shenanigans, held at York Community Centre, will be presenting an exciting final show/ceilidh this weekend, Sept. 16 starting at 7 p.m.

“We have had a busy summer and it certainly was lot of fun celebrating the tenth season for this popular Island roots event,” said host Judy MacLean.

This finale event is no exception when it comes to a great lineup with such featured acts as a four-piece group called Killick Junction from Kings County.

Also on the bill is Dave Altass, lead singer of The Blue Crystal, Dylan Ferguson, Emmett DeCoursey and Perry Batten who hails from Foxtrap, N.L. The Judy MacLean Dancers will be represented by champion step dancer Isabelle Saunders performing an award-winning choreographed number. Lead vocalist Len Buell of Killick Junction will no doubt sing a couple of songs from an earlier CD he recorded called “Nothin’ Fancy” with Smilin’ Bill’s son, young Billy McCormack. Other band members of Killick Junction are Edna MacMaster, vocals and harmony; Wayne MacLean, backup guitarist, and Urban Chaisson, the newest member to the group, a multitalented singer who plays fiddle, guitar and other instruments. They perform many styles of music, including Irish/Celtic songs, plus some traditional tunes, East Coast ballads and more.

The evening also offers a light lunch compliments of ADL, Atlantic Superstores, Buns and Things Bakery and P.E.I. Preserve Company. There is also a 50/50 draw and a Veseys visitor prize. Tickets are at the door at 6 p.m. Call 902-566-5545 or email judymacleandance@eastlink.ca for information.

The York Community Centre is located on Route 25, York Road, civic #699. Wayne MacLean, left, Edna MacMaster and Len Buell of Killick Junction will return to the stage at Sunday Night Shenanigans on Sept. 16. Urban Chaisson, not shown in the picture, will also join the group for the special finale of the music series.
