Leo Killorn to run in Ward 1

Leo Killorn has come forward to announce his bid for the Charlottet­own council seat of Ward 1 - Queens

Square.

Having recently retired,

Killorn says he wants to devote his time to the issues of the city and be a responsibl­e advocate residents.

He has a lifetime connection with the areas encompassi­ng the Killorn for the Ward 1 ward and currently resides there with his wife, Jackie.

Killorn has had a long career in the energy, biotech and health fields on P.E.I.

“This area of Charlottet­own is quite dynamic, and its importance to the city and the province cannot be overstated,” said Killorn.

“It needs strong and idealistic voices to make sure that what is accomplish­ed is the best solution. I hope to be one of those voices.”

The municipal elections take place Nov. 5 across P.E.I.

Stratford’s deputy mayor will not be running for re-election when voters head to the polls on Nov. 5.

At the monthly Stratford council meeting recently, Randy Cooper said he’s stepping aside.

“It’s been a great ride, and I thank the residents of the Town of Stratford for their support of our great team,’’ Cooper said.

“We have accomplish­ed much in the past eight years, and the town is on solid footing. It’s time to step aside and let new blood take my place in Ward 3-Tea Hill.”

Cooper was first elected in the 2010 municipal election and acclaimed in 2014.

During his time on council, he has held various positions, including eight years as the chairman of finance and technology and four years as deputy mayor.

“The town is in great shape, and I am most proud to say that during my two terms as a member of council we increased the town’s assets by $24 million while decreasing our total debt by $2 million.”
