The funeral for James Larkin, beloved son of Louise and the late Earle Larkin, was held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Sirach, was addressed by sister, Christine Larkin. The second reading, from II Corinthian­s, was addressed by cousin, Paul Larkin. Prayers of the Faithful were led by nephew, Andy Gallant. The altar servers were Dennis Doiron, Aletha Gallant and Marcia Bulger. Marion Murphy and Monica Simpson assisted Father Raj as Eucharisti­c ministers. The music was provided by a combined church choir with Shirley Doiron as organist. The hymns were Entrance, “Here I Am, Lord”; Psalm, “The Lord’s My Shepherd”, with Jimmy McAleer as cantor; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Celtic Alleluia”, with Jimmy McAleer as cantor; offertory, “Dwelling Place”; communion, “Table of Plenty”; post communion was the tribute, “I Will Sing You Home”, written by the Ennis Sisters and sung by Olivia Blacquiere; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “Alleluia, Give Thanks”. The bearer of honour was brother, Jeff Larkin. The flower bearer was nephew, Blake Larkin. Among those in attendance were representa­tives from St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity, Public Service Commission, ROTO Group, Members of AFG and the CWL. Interment took place in St. Anne’s Cemetery, where Father Raj conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
