The funeral for Richard A. Jenkins was held Thursday, September 6, 2018 from MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel to St. Andrew’s United Church, Vernon Bridge where the service was conducted by The Reverend Karen MacNeill. The scripture was read by son Doug Jenkins. Grandson Brendan Jenkins gave words of remembranc­e. The congregati­onal hymn was “The Old Rugged Cross”. St. Andrew’s United Church Choir sang “In the Garden”. Richard & Merilyn MacRae sang “The Shepherd’s Song”. Andrea Ellis sang “Down to the River”. Organist and Choir Director was Andrea Ellis. In attendance were members of St. Andrew’s United Church session, brethren of the Mizpah Lodge No. 17, and members of the Telephone Pioneers. All in attendance served as honourary pallbearer­s, including Freddy Richards, David Smith, Doug Sheidow, Ron and Ruthie Lewis, and brethren of Mizpah Lodge No. 17. Interment took place in St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery. Mizpah Lodge No. 17 held a Masonic Memorial Service at the MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel on Wednesday evening, September 5, 2018. Most Worship Brother Gordon Carter, Grand Master of the Lodge of Prince Edward Island was in attendance along with several visiting Brethren. Worshipful Brother Arthur Jones served as Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Paul Drake was Chaplain and Worshipful Brother Ron Drake served as Director Ceremonies. The Orator was Right Worshipful Brother (h) George Doughart.
