Cornwall citizens committee to host meet-and-greet

Meet Your Candidate Night takes place tonight at Civic Centre

Cornwall residents are getting a chance to meet the mayoral and council candidates for the Nov. 5 municipal election.

A Meet Your Candidate Night will be held today, 7:30-9:30 p.m., in the Cornwall Civic Centre, 29 Cornwall Rd.

Bill Hogg, spokesman for the non-partisan citizens committee organizing the public meeting, said each candidate for mayor will be given five minutes to speak, while each candidate for council will be given four minutes.

A meet-and-greet will follow the speeches to offer the public an opportunit­y to speak to each candidate personally.

system and the town is made up of clusters of urban density separated by fields.

The town uses an at-large voting system that sees residents elect a mayor and six councillor­s. The top six names in the list of candidates for councillor will form the new town council, along with the mayor.
