Through kindness and love she taught us how to live; with strength and courage she taught us how to die. Catherine Gallant (Curran) passed away peacefully at her home on October 27th in North Rustico at the age of 69. She was the wife of Harold Gallant and the mother of Scott (Sarah), Maria Lavoie (Daryl), Steven (Beth), Ryan (Meghann), and Neil (Lindsay). Cathy was the daughter of the late Tom and Laura Curran and the daughter in-law of the late Alyre and Maude Gallant. She was the sister of Mary Kelly, John (deceased) Curran (Deanna), Jane Devine (Gerard), Frank Curran (Alice), Anna Curran and Rita Curran. Cathy was the sister -in-law of Oswald (Marion), Charles “Buddy” (deceased) (Anne deceased), Basil (deceased) (Jackie), Gertrude LeClair (Armand), Doug (Anne), Geraldine Gauthier (Gerard), Mike (Patricia), Dennis (Susan), Joanne (Roland) and Garnett. She will be remembered by her 17 grandchild­ren for Nanna Days, baking with them, planting the garden and loving them beyond measure: Neleah, Brent, Kade, Nicholas, Matthew, Kai, Fynn, Rogan, Maven, Blake, Nathan, Jaron, Jax, Daylin, Brad, Krew and Thea. Cathy filled her days with giving and doing; always supporting those who needed an extra meal, visiting the sick, and being a friend to all. She volunteere­d for the church, many community organizati­ons and the local 4-H club. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538, Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The CWL will hold a prayer service prior to the afternoon visitation at 1:15 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sister Cecile fund in Cameroon, Africa for children less fortunate or to the PEI 4-H Trust.
