Wild sweeps games on road
Richards nets hat trick for Kensington squad in win over Fredericton in New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League action
It was a successful weekend in New Brunswick for the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild.
Ryan Richards scored a hat trick and added an assist while Colby MacArthur had a goal and three helpers in pacing the Wild to a 10-2 victory over the Fredericton Caps in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League on Sunday afternoon.
Kensington, which was under the guidance of assistant coaches Duane Richards and Campbell Gallant for the two weekend games in the absence of head coach Kyle Dunn, posted an 11-4 triumph over the Northern Moose on Saturday night in Bathurst, N.B.
At Willie O’Ree Place, Zac Arsenault (2-1), Dixon MacLeod (1-2), Bennett MacArthur (1-2)
and Zach Biggar, who was credited with a trio of assists, all contributed three points against the Caps as the Wild improved to 9-2-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).
Lucas Parsons (1-1) and Reid Peardon netted single markers as the Wild has scored a leaguehigh 82 goals in 12 regular-season games. Other helpers were credited to Matt McQuaid (2), Landon
Clow (2) and Ethan Beaulieu.
Sam Mossman and Joshua Nadeau replied for the Caps (3-72).
The Wild, winners of four straight and eight of their last nine games, opened up a 5-0 lead after 20 minutes, and took a 9-1 cushion into the second intermission.
Chad Arsenault stopped 20 of 22 shots directed his way in the Wild goal.
Saturday
Saturday, the Wild erupted offensively in an 11-4 road victory over the Northern Moose.
At the K.C. Irving Regional Centre, Bennett MacArthur scored a hat trick while Colby MacArthur and Richards each had a goal and three assists to pace the Wild. Keiran Gallant (2-1), Arsenault (2-1), William Proud and Lucas Parsons also lit the lamp. Biggar (2), Kalib Snow (2), MacLeod (2), Jack Campbell (2), Isaac Wilson, Beaulieu and Duncan Picketts chipped in with assists.
Cole Augustine (2), Jake Parker and Alex Trembley replied for the Moose (1-12-0).
The Wild built period leads of 4-1 and 7-3.
Josh Smith made 21 saves in earning the goaltending win.
