Cavendish beach facility closure

-

The Cavendish Beach facility in P.E.I. National Park is closed to the public while infrastructure work on the new dune-crossing structure is underway.

Work began Monday, to replace the current dune-crossing at Cavendish Beach and is expected to be complete in January.

For safety reasons, as well as environmental impacts and project efficiency, it is necessary to close the facility during the construction period. Visitors will not be permitted at Cavendish Beach during this time and the road to the beach will be closed off just past the Cavendish Campground’s entrance.

Those who want to visit the beach in the Cavendish area can use the access point located in Cavendish Campground next to site 54. During this time, tour groups should go to the Oceanview area for a view of Cavendish Beach or to visit North Rustico Beach as an alternative.

Visitors to P.E.I. National Park are advised to exercise caution, respect all onsite signage and closures and to follow instructions from on-site Parks Canada’s staff or contractors.

This work is part of a $3 billion investment over five years to support Parks Canada’s infrastructure work to heritage, tourism, waterway and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas across Canada.
