The largely attended funeral for Catherine Gallant, beloved wife of Harold Gallant, of North Rustico, was held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The concelebra­nt was Reverend Brendon Gallant. The first reading, from Isaiah, was addressed by friend, Marina Doiron. The second reading, from I John, was addressed by granddaugh­ter, Neleah Lavoie. The Prayers of the Faithful were led by sister, Rita Curran. Heartfelt words of remembranc­e were shared by son, Ryan Gallant. The altar servers were Curtis Gallant, Norman Gallant, Noah Blacquiere and Jordan Toombs. Joan Doiron assisted Father Raj as a Eucharisti­c minister. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist; and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were: Entrance, audio recording of “Children of the Light”; Psalm, “Psalm of the Good Shepherd”, with Noreen Down as cantor; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Celtic Alleluia”, with Janet Doiron as cantor; offertory, “All the Ends of the Earth”; communion, “Table of Plenty”; post communion, “Be Not Afraid”, sung by nephews, John and Danny Kelly; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “Lord, You Have Come”. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. The bearers of honour were husband, Harold Gallant; and children, Scott Gallant, Maria Lavoie, Steven Gallant, Ryan Gallant and Neil Gallant. Flower bearers were grandchild­ren, Neleah, Brent, Kade, Nicholas, Matthew, Kai, Fynn, Rogan, Maven, Blake, Nathan, Jaron, Jax, Daylin, Brad, Krew and Thea. Among those in attendance were representa­tives of Gulf Shore School and Green Diamond Equipment. Interment took place in the church cemetery where Reverend Brendon Gallant conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen`s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
