A special week of remembrance at the Kings Playhouse in Georgetown will feature music, historical displays and a remembrance service.

From Nov. 3-11, the hall and foyer will be filled with historical war memorabilia curated by Wayne Hambly. All are welcome to drop in throughout the week to view the display.

An evening of music and song from the First World War will be on stage Nov. 3, 7:30 p.m. “We Remember – Songs of War and Peace Throughout the Ages”, features the Montague Regional High School Choir, plus popular local musician Barry O’Brien. It also features special guests Kelley Mooney, Allison Kelly and Catherine O’Brien in their show titled “Fascinating Ladies”, a tribute to the great girl groups and female artists of the last century. Songs include “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, “Alexander’s Ragtime Band”, “Sentimental Journey”, “In the Mood”, “Sincerely” and more. This show played to soldout houses at Victoria Playhouse in September. Tickets are $20 or $15 for students and veterans or those currently serving. On Nov. 9, there will be a showing of the film “Storming Juno”. Brian Pound will introduce this Canadian documentary about the landing on Juno Beach in 1944. Admission is free (donations gratefully accepted).

The Remembrance Day ceremony takes place at 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the theatre. Hosted by Pound, this special service will be followed by a light lunch in the hall.
