Public invited to review draft energy plan
An open house and draft review session are planned for later this month to give the public a chance to review the Community Energy Plan.
Set for Wednesday, Nov. 14, 1-8 p.m., at the Rodd Charlottetown – Grafton Room (74 Kent St.), this drop-in style event will provide interested individuals a chance to speak with city staff about the draft plan and provide feedback. A presentation on the draft plan will be held at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m.
The initial public education and consultation sessions on Charlottetown’s Community Energy Plan were held in January of 2018. The Community Energy Planner thoroughly reviewed the feedback received from the public and evaluated various pathways to a sustainable energy future for Charlottetown.
The plan recommends that Charlottetown aims to quickly reduce community greenhouse gas (GHG) and air pollutant emissions while securing reliable affordable energy locally, increasing energy efficiency and creating jobs and economic growth. In short, the City’s draft vision is that by 2050, Charlottetown is a carbon neutral, diverse and economically strong community, powered only by renewable energy.
The draft Community Energy Plan provides a complete picture of Charlottetown’s current energy profile, a detailed vision for a sustainable energy future, and a comprehensive strategy to make that vision a reality.
The plan, along with other resources and an opportunity to provide online feedback, are available to the public at www. charlottetown.ca, direct URL: (www.charlottetown.ca/environment___sustainability/sustainability/programs_and_initiatives/community_energy_plan)
