The death occurred peacefully, with family by her side at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottet­own, on Monday, November 5, 2018, of Sandy Bentley, beloved wife of Robert Thomas Bentley, of New Glasgow, PE, aged 72. Sandy was the loving mother of Michael Robert Bentley (Helen Epstein) of Brooklin, ON, and Breagh Erin Bentley (Brad Haltli) of New Haven, PE; and grandmothe­r of Hudson Edward Haltli and Declan Lorence Haltli. She is also survived by her uncles, Sheldon, Wendell and Cecil Nicholson; and numerous cousins. Sandy was predecease­d by her parents, J. Edward and Annie C. White (Nicholson), formerly of Stanchel; and brothers, Gordon N. White and John E. White.

Sandy was a caring and highly respected Registered Social Worker starting her career at the Children’s Aid Society in Halifax and serving later in the social work and health care fields in Prince Edward Island. Later she became a Policy Advisor with the Status of Women and served on the boards of Anderson House and the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre for Family Violence in Fredericto­n. Since her retirement she has been greatly admired for her photograph­y of family, friends and the changing Island scenery. She has many groups of caring friends including her weekly walking group (the Intrepids), her Birthday Group, as well as our many friends in the British Motoring Associatio­n of PEI. She was known throughout the Maritimes and New England by the many British car enthusiast­s that we hosted at our home in New Glasgow and our cottage at Cousin’s Shore. She will also be greatly missed by her special four-legged companion, Gracie. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow. No visitation by personal request. A reception to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
