With cannabis and its legalization topical subjects this fall, Barb MacDonald with the Rural Action Centre in Alberton is optimistic an upcoming public presentation the centre is hosting at the Mill River Resort will draw a lot of interest.

CBDC West Prince Ventures and Innovation P.E.I. are sponsoring the event, ‘The Evolution of Cannabis in Canada’, at the Mill River Resort on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.

Guest presenter is former Nova Scotia premier Darrell Dexter, now the chairman of Global Public Affairs’ CannabisCONNECT.

“My interest is in the development of the regulatory regime governing the industry both federally and provincially. My presentation is about how we got to where we are and where I see it going,” Dexter said.

Among the items he sees on the immediate horizon are the development of regulations around edibles, the international market, and the entry of micros or craft producers into the marketplace.

“I see no let-up in the interest in this sector,” Dexter noted.

“We wanted to bring someone in to the local area to give more information,” MacDonald said, explaining Rural Action Centre Alberton’s interest.

Pre-registration for the free presentation, although not required, can be made to (902)8533616 or barb.macdonald@cbdc.ca.
