Ricky McGarry

-

Family and friends were saddened and shocked by the sudden passing of Ricky, on November 23, 2017. Ricky was born August 17, 1958 to parents, Renie Webster, and Joe McGarry. Ricky lived a full life surrounded by the love of his family. In 1977 as a teenager, he left PEI to pursue a career in Alberta. His first adventure was as laborer for the local railroad. He soon moved to be an employee with the city of Calgary, where he resided for 20 years. Ricky enjoyed his time in Alberta, but as many Islanders do, he moved back to PEI in 1987. After a few years trying to find himself Ricky accepted a position with the City of Charlottetown, where he worked until the time of his death. Ricky took great pride in donating his musical talent to local churches and community groups. It always put a smile on his face to see others smiling while he entertained them, especially the seniors. His favorite instrument to share was the Dobro, which belonged to his late father. He mastered this instrument on his own and played it beautifully. Left to morn his memory is his mother Renie Webster (Garth), daughter Amy Barrett, and grandson Cole, siblings Brenda Crockett (Gordon), Roy McGarry, John McGarry (Carol), Billy McGarry (Tracey Cahill), Jim McGarry (Maddy Venart), Mike McGarry, Eileen MacAulay (Ed), many close cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by his father Joe McGarry and his niece, Christine McGarry. Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at St John’s Hospital, all those who brought food to our home and sent flower and cards, Hennessy Funeral Home for your professional care, Leo Trainor who conducted both the funeral and burial, it was much appreciated, and anyone we may have omitted (you know who you are) we are beyond grateful for the support that we receive over the last year. God bless each and every one of you.
