The funeral for Regis Peters, beloved husband of May Peters (nee Beriau), formerly of North Rustico, was held on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on his casket by his wife, May Peters, and children, John Peters and Maria Dow. The first reading, from Isaiah, was addressed by Karen Gallant, who also led the Prayers of the Faithful. The second reading, from 1 Thessaloni­ans, was addressed by Wade Gallant. The altar servers were Curtis Gallant, Norman Gallant, Estelle Bourgeois and Peter Gallant. Carl Pineau assisted Father Raj as a Eucharisti­c minister. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist; and Janet Doiron as song leader. The hymns were: Entrance, “Hail, Queen of Heaven the Ocean Star”; Psalm, “Psalm of the Good Shepherd”, with Janet Doiron as cantor; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Celtic Alleluia”, with Janet Doiron as cantor; offertory, “Seek Ye First”; communion, “Table of Plenty”; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “Lord, You Have Come”. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Pallbearer­s were Roger Doucette, Lee Gallant, Noel Gallant, Terry Doucette, Dwayne Gallant and Scott Doucette. Flower bearers were Phyllis Enman, Holly MacKinnon, Paula Gallant and Megan Gallant. Due to weather, the committal service took place in the church prior to interment in the church cemetery. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen`s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
