Lady Singers of Our Century to present two Christmas shows

Singers looking forward to presenting some favourite songs of the season on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3

Judy McGregor and Joan Reeves, members of the Lady Singers of our Century, are looking forward to hosting two Christmas shows this weekend and to welcoming a special guest, Jacinta MacDonald, who will be singing a variety of Christmas carols, including “O Holy Night”.

The Lady Singers of Our Century will be singing songs by their favourite artists, with old and newer Christmas songs that will take the audience down memory lane. They inlude songs such as “Christmas Wishes” sung by Anne Murray and presented by McGregor and Reeves; “Silver Bells” presented by Jolee Patkai; “Santa Looks a lot like Daddy” presented by Keila Glydon; “The Season Will Never Grow Old” sung by Rita MacNeil and presented by Colleen MacPhee.

The first show will be on Sunday, Dec. 2, at St John’s United Church in Mt. Stewart, and the second one on Monday, Dec. 3, at St Joachim’s Church Hall, Vernon River. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.

McGregor and Reeves who star as Anne Murray and Connie Francis, also host the concerts and will keep the audience laughing with their jokes and stories.

Glydon, who stars as Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette, will be singing their more popular Christmas songs. Glydon, who has written a number of gospel songs and has recorded them on her CD, also performs with Phase II and Friends.

Patkai, a member of Treble with Girls, stars as Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle. She has written numerous songs which are included on her two recordings and this summer she was invited to sing with Carol Baker at the Harbour Front Theatre.

MacPhee pays tribute to the late Rita MacNeil and will be singing a number of favourite Christmas songs. She grew up listening to MacNeil and loved her lyrics and music and shows her true likeness to MacNeil when she sings her songs. MacPhee also performs at many different ceilidh and benefits.
