Visser, Trainor key Vipers’ road victory

Metros post one-goal decision in Island junior B action

The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers made it back-to-back shutouts on Saturday night.

Cameron Visser turned aside all 30 shots directed to the Kensington goal while Nick Trainor scored a hat trick in leading the Vipers to a 5-0 decision over the host Eastern Maniacs.

The win followed Caleb Coyle’s 31-save effort in an interlocki­ng game with the Cap-Pelé Predators of the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League on Nov. 25.

In other league action on Friday night, the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros edged Cap-Pelé 3-2.

Sunday afternoon’s game between the first-place Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings and Maniacs was postponed. The Vipers and Metros were scheduled to meet in Kensington on Sunday night.

Vipers 5, Maniacs 0

At the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris, the Vipers built period leads of 1-0 and 3-0.

Dylan Wheatley contribute­d a goal and two assists in his Vipers’ debut, and Noah Stewart added a single goal.

Two assists were credited to Tyler Gallant and Jesse Jay as the second-place Vipers improved to 8-3-0.

Noah Laybolt gave up five goals on 22 shots in 43 minutes of action for the Maniacs (0-110). Cam Duffy blocked all eight shots he faced over the final 17 minutes.

Metros 3, Predators 2

At the Cap-Pelé Arena, Nick Currie’s second goal of the game at 16:44 of the third period broke a 2-2 tie to lift the Metros to victory.

Drew Bowman also scored for the Metros (7-7-0).

Simon Savoie-Vienneau and Connor Hayes scored for the Predators.

The period scores were 1-0 and 2-0 in favour of Sherwood-Parkdale.

Winning goaltender Liam Jay finished with 28 saves.
