Fallback set to wrap up its weekly series
FallBack’s weekly dance series wraps up for the season this evening at the Silver Fox Entertainment Complex, 110 Water St., Summerside, and Friday, Dec. 7 at the Delta Prince Edward, 18 Queen St., Charlottetown. Both events run 8-11 p.m. Admission is charged at the door. All are welcome (19 and over).
The popular 1950s- and ‘60sthemed dances have been ongoing since April and will be on hiatus until spring.
“Pumping out live rock ’n’ roll twice a week for eight months has been tremendous fun and we’ll miss the dancers, but the break will allow time to rehearse new songs and make next year’s dances even stronger,” says Johnny Ross, pianist for the band that also includes Scott White, vocals, guitar, Dale Gaudet, vocals, guitar, Tom DesRoches, vocals, bass, Steve Guy, saxophone, and Wayne Robichaud, vocals and drums.
The band plays upbeat, popular songs from the era’s most famous names, including Elvis, The Beach Boys, Bill Haley and the Comets, Chubby Checker and Jerry Lee Lewis.
FallBack’s authentic presentation gives a solid nod to the past. All members wear matching suits, with wardrobe changes between sets. The stage backdrop displays a 1950s-inspired custom sign, bearing the band’s name in lights.
As part of the season finale, donations will be presented to the Summerside and Charlottetown Food Banks. The band has been collecting funds for the charities all year through 50/50 draws held at the dances.
“The total proceeds make a tidy sum. We can’t wait to pass it in and spread the joy — just in time for Christmas,” says White.
