Apparently the Liberals have raised $362,209 for the upcoming election, and the Conservatives $ 203,017. Why did people give them so much money?

Do they expect things in return? Here’s a thought — perhaps each group could donate, say, half of that huge amount to charity — to show that they actually care about Islanders. Media people can convince politicians that 50 posters are better than 25, but talk is cheap. Let’s see who can ‘walk the walk’, and actually do something useful. I might consider one of those parties then.

The NDP’s proposal to build a medical school at UPEI is certainly a good idea. We have cutting edge science and veterinary facilities — let’s add a medical component.

Ouch! Does Mr. Dumville really think that he can convince people that he is an Independent candidate and not just a ticked-off Liberal? Would he be an Independent if he had gotten “the goodies” — a cabinet post?

Did you hear about the new pension plan in Japan? Free room and board, clothes, medical care, haircuts, toiletries, TV, etc? It’s called “Break a law — get sent to jail”. I kid you not. Senior crime is on a huge upturn in Japan. Original thinking.

Apparently, the life-span for poor Cubans is the same as average Americans. The difference — free health care.

Thank you to PC MLA Sidney MacEwen for raising the issue of lack of out-patient physiotherapy during the fall sitting of the legislature.

Nice to see some compassion from politicians; too bad it was brushed aside by the Liberal machine.

And finally, congratulations to Mr.Ray Murphy on receiving the Order of Canada. Well deserved. Mr. Murphy has done so much for the community, in many ways. He would get my vote for premier of the province — we would be well represented.
