Nudie takes to stage July 25
Honky-tonk performer special guest at Close to the Ground Concert series
POOLES CORNER - The Egg Farmers of Prince Edward Island Close to the Ground concert series continues Thursday, July 25, 8 p.m. at the Kaylee Hall.
This week, Fiddlers’ Sons welcome Nudie, an award-winning country musician, as their special guest.
The honky-tonk raconteur, along with Bobby McIsaac on guitar and vocals, will perform a set of classic country music with all the hits. Audiences will hear the best of Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, Willie Nelson and more. The show will feature the humorous stories behind the songs and the artists that made them famous.
After soaking up musical experiences in Toronto, Montreal, Phoenix, Austin and New York City, Nudie now hangs his Gibson guitar in Charlottetown. His stage name is a nod to Nashville’s rhinestone cowboy tailor, Nudie Cohn.
Nudie’s decades long performing career has landed him on the stages of the Philadelphia, Montreal and Ottawa Folk Festivals, Willie Nelson’s end-oftour party in 2006, a support slot with Marty Stuart & The Fabulous Superlatives, and official showcases at Folk Alliance and Americana Music conferences.
His latest offering, “Everything’s Different in the Night”, is a collection of songs about relationships, and stories from the road.
The air-conditioned Kaylee hall is located at the intersection of route 3 and 4 near Montague. There will be a 50-50 draw, canteen service and CDs and books for sale from the performers. Admission is cash at the door.
