Islanders earn split
Kraft, Gallant, Affleck have good days against Chatham

Islanders split a New Brunswick Senior Baseball League doubleheader with the Chatham Ironmen.
The American lefty allowed two runs on four hits in six innings as the Isles won Game 2 8-2. Charles MacLellan threw a clean seventh inning to close out the game.
The game was tied 1-1 through four innings before the visiting Islanders erupted for four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Ian Hardman was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs on three hits and six walks in four innings. He struck out nine. Gary Ryder allowed three runs on two hits in three innings of relief.
Brett Brittany and Logan Gallant each drove in two runs while Darcy Affleck had the other RBI. Gallant and Affleck hit doubles while Kody Matthews, Kraft and Jesse MacIntyre each singled. Kraft and Nick MacPhail each walked twice.
Nolan Levy had a single and a double to pace the Ironmen’s offence.
The host did their damage in the bottom of the first inning of Game 1, scoring three times in a 3-1 victory.
Chatham’s Orry Cooke had two singles and a walk, Jeff Watkin a single, a double and an RBI while Robert Gallant had a home run and drove in a pair of runs.
Logan Gallant went 2-for-3 with a single and a double to lead the Islanders. Kraft was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Affleck singled and walked.
Rhett Feser allowed a run on four hits and a walk in six innings for the victory. He struck out four. Jamie Walls struck out one in a clean seventh inning for the save.
Jordan Stevenson took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk in four innings. MacLellan struck out run in two perfect innings of relief.
The Islanders are 8-16 and in the basement of the five-team circuit while Chatham is 10-11 and in third place. Charlottetown travels to Moncton Wednesday to play the Fisher Cats at 7:30 p.m. before hosting Chatham for a doubleheader on Saturday.
