A service of celebratio­n for the life of Heath Johnston, son of the late Lester and Bessie (Stead) Johnston, of Springvale, was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Winsloe United Church. The service was conducted by Reverend J.D. Kennedy, who offered prayer and words of comfort. Scripture readings included I Corinthian­s, Ecclesiast­es

3 and Psalm 46, which were read by nephews, Paul, Steven and Bradley Johnston. Words of remembranc­e were shared by brother, Everett Johnston. The music included the hymns, “Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore” and “Shall We Gather at the River”, played by organist, Stephanie Cole. “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” was sung by Virginia Proude and Joy MacIntyre. Honorary bearers were Don and Marsha Proude, Weston Axworthy, Kent Neill, Audrey Clow, Serita Newman, Brandon Coakes, Marie Nicholson, Alvin Coles, Thane and Susan Nunn, Joanne Creamer, Leigh Crabbe, James Pineau, Karl Proude, Ernie Dollar, Ivan Proude, Lynda Larter, Lowell and Debbie Sentner, Wayne Larter, June Shanahan, Darrin MacArthur, Norman Smith, Reta MacDonald, Orville Smith, Rollie Smith, Brian Stead, Deryl Matheson, Donald Stead, Eric McLaine, William McLaine, George and Doris MacKenzie, Nathan and Brennan Waite, Michael Larter and Laverne McGuigan. Pallbearer­s were Greg Proude, Roger Matheson, Roger Smith, Floyd Newman, Gary Dunning, David Constable, Bruce Boyce and Eddy Shaw. Interment took place in the Princetown Road Cemetery, where Reverend Kennedy led the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
