MacPherson, young fiddler part of Sunday Night Shenanigans
Sunday Night Shenanigans will welcome several special guests to the stage at the York Community Centre on Aug. 4 at 7 p.m.
Hosted by Judy MacLean, Sunday’s show will feature many well-known on- and off-Island entertainers.
Leading the way is Lester MacPherson, who has recently re-recorded some of his earlier hits, including tunes from several country albums – “Don’t Stop the Music’’ and others.
He will also provide backup for award-winning fiddler Amelia Parker from Pictou, N.S. She recently won the 2019 Maritime Fiddle Championship in the 13to 18-year-old age group. Amelia will also perform in Abbotsford, B.C., at the Canadian Grand Masters. Amelia is also a step dance student of MacLean’s and has won several dance championships, including the New Brunswick Open Step-Dancing Championships in 2017 while she was the top stepper at the recent 2019 Maritime fiddle and step dance events.
Another local champion stepper, Isabelle Saunders, will perform to a couple of fast-paced reels.
Also performing is Emerald Junction, featuring Anne Quinn and Ron Kelly who produced their debut album, “Kickin’ It’’ in 2018, which was nominated by Music P.E.I. in the Country Album of the Year category. Recently, they recorded, “Take Me Back, December’’, which received airplay on a New York City radio station.
Emmett DeCoursey also returns to the stage with his own style of comedy and songs.
Tickets are at the door, which opens at 6 p.m. The evening includes a 50/50 draw, a Vesey’s visitor prize and a light lunch.
