Stanley Bridge ceilidh welcomes special guests

Hailee LeFort, Ward MacDonald and Jonathan Arsenault take the stage tonight and Aug. 14

The Wednesday Night Stanley Bridge Hall Ceilidh will have three special guests for the shows tonight and Aug. 14.

Marsha Weeks, host and organizer, welcomes friends Ward MacDonald, Hailee LeFort and Jonathan Arsenault to the stage.

LeFort has been energizing audiences around Cape Breton for close to a decade with her fiddle playing.

A native of Margaree, her lively style can be heard from concert halls to dance halls to major festivals.

She now lives in P.E.I., where she recorded her debut album, “It’s Happenin’’’ in 2018.

MacDonald has been immersed in P.E.I.’s traditional music scene for 20 years.

As a fiddler, accompanist, teacher and dance caller, he has toured across North America and as far as Cuba and Australia.

As a producer, he has initiated many events, including Here We Go Barn Dances and P.E.I.’s Festival of Small Halls.

He released his debut recording, “Ask Her To Dance’’, in 2018.

Arsenault is a jester of modern times. Always clowning around, he’s all about letting his vibrant personality shine through his music as a guitar picker, vocalist and multiinstrumentalist with Acadian roots.

As a young boy, he tried to play the fiddle like his mom, Louise Arsenault, but his heart was with the guitar.

The step dancer for the evening will be award-winning, competitive dancer Taylor MacBeath.

The ceilidh begins at 7:30 p.m. at the air-conditioned Stanley Bridge Women’s Institute Hall, 4897 St. Mary’s Rd. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is at the door or online at peiceilidhs.com.
