Details on new albums, couple break-ups and the next season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Columnist has the latest on albums, break-ups and ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Hollywood gossip is coming in hot. It’s been a busy few weeks of album releases, breakups, weddings, reboots and re-castings and I’ve got all the details for you.

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx reportedly split. The unlikely duo has been quietly dating for six years. Following the breakup, Jamie was spotted holding hands with a 21-year-old singer/songwriter/model. Maybe he was just helping her across the street safely? Either way, that’s too many slashes for a career (and that’s coming from a writer/ personal trainer/sweat pant enthusiast).

THE RIGHT DUFF

A Lizzie McGuire reboot is happening! We will get to watch Hilary Duff star once again as Lizzie – this time as a 30-yearold, working as an apprentice to a decorator in NYC and dating a restauranteur. The series will air on Disney’s new streaming platform, Disney+, and it hasn’t started filming yet, so no release date has been announced but I. AM. READY.

One wedding wasn’t enough

for Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin. According to TMZ the duo is having a formal ceremony Sept. 30 in South Carolina. In preparation for the nuptials Hailey got several new hand tattoos and a neck tattoo. I got a wax and a pedicure, but whatever floats your boat!

TAYLOR-MADE

Taylor Swift released a new album, “Lover”. I’m conflicted on my feeling about Taylor. Is she problematic? Is she feuding with women and then riding the women empowerment movement? Is this just the narrative the media wants me to believe? Have you already stopped reading and are worried I’m having a mid-life crisis? Anyway, my experience as a Taylor lover/hater is fluid and ever changing but I do really enjoy “Cruel Summer,” “Lover” and “Soon You’ll Get Better” from her new album.

NEW ALBUM

Missy Elliott released a fivesong album, “Iconology,” her first collection of songs since 2005. Just a heads up, I graduated high school in 2005, so that was 10 pounds, two chin whiskers and the ability to stay up past 10 p.m. ago. Adding “Cool Off” and “Drip Demeanor” to your workout playlist will make you run faster, jump higher and spend all of your rests doing body rolls and twerking.

FRANKEL-LY SPEAKING

Bethenny Frankel announced her “Real Housewives of New York” departure. Bethenny is one of the original cast members, having been on since 2008 and giving us not only great TV but also Skinny Girl products. She took a hiatus from 2010-15, so we can only hope she will one day return to reality television.

STAR POWER

Lamar Odom (former NBA player and Khloé Kardashian’s ex-husband), Hannah Brown (former Bachelorette), James Van Der Beek (best known from “Dawson’s Creek” and having 47 children), Karamo Brown (“Queer Eye”), Kate Flannery (Meredith from “The Office”) and many more are set to compete for the mirror ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars.” Watching amateurs trying to learn new skills has never been my thing (if it’s yours, come to my house and watch me teach my mom about her phone for two hours) but I cannot ignore how great this cast is.
