Sunday Night Shenanigans on stage Sept. 1
Lineup includes Amelia Parker, Blaine Henshaw, Isabelle Saunders and others
Sunday Night Shenanigans kicks off the first show/ceilidh of the month on Sept. 1, 7 p.m., with a wide variety of guests.
Host Judy MacLean welcomes both local and visiting performers including Amelia Parker, a 13-year-old fiddler. She will return to the stage at the York Community Centre with her first CD, “Intertwined” in hand. Amelia has many awards to her credit, including winning both the 2017 New Brunswick Fiddle and New Brunswick Step-dancing Championships.
She performed a step-dancing number with Stompin’ Tom’s fiddler, Billy MacInnis, at the 2018 Maritime Fiddling Championships and recently won the 2019 Maritime Fiddling Championship for her age division (13-18 years). This resulted in an invitation to perform in the Junior Showcase division at the Grand Masters Fiddling Competitions in Abbotsford, B.C., this past week.
Making her first appearance at Sunday Night Shenanigans is singer/songwriter Blaine Henshaw, who hosts a radio program called “Seaside” (105.9 FM) in Dartmouth, N.S. He is also an inductee in the 2017 Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. He will be accompanied by Mary Smith along with Lou Doiron and Dave Moore.
In addition, champion step dancer Isabelle Saunders (representing the Judy MacLean Dancers) will perform.
Featured on the program as well are Lester MacPherson, also known as “P.E.I.’s Country Gentleman” and Emmett DeCoursey, a singer/songwriter, who does comedy.
The evening includes a light lunch, a 50/50 draw, Vesey’s visitor prize. Tickets are available at the door at 6 p.m.
