New teachers welcomed

- MONTAGUE REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Students and staff are looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year and welcome new staff members: Jolene Johnston; Krista Boudreault; Ellen Campbell; Rob Collins; Graham MacDonald, Alex Ellsworth. Toby Murphy has returned from leave.

The grad class of 2019 contribute­d $78 to the P.E.I. Humane Society. Money was raised through pictures taken at prom and graduation by teacher Lianne Garland.

Grade 11 student Kenzy Hawkins attended Encounters with Canada at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre in Ottawa, Aug. 25-31. The theme of her week was sports and fitness. Jayda Graham is attending Encounters with Canada at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre, Sept. 8-14. The theme of her week is law and justice.

COLONEL GRAY HIGH SCHOOL

Welcome to new teachers Ellen Beck (French immersion), Trisha Burrows (English), Greg Ellis (science), Morgan Hennessey (math), Chris MacKinnon (vice-principal), Andrew Murchison (business), Greg Sheppard (science), Christie Stetson (English) and Neil Toombs (math). Jocelyn Mullin is joining staff as youth worker, while Elizabeth Banks is an educationa­l assistant.

Sept. 10 will be the final day for students to make course changes, requested through the homeroom teacher.

Meet-The-Teacher Night is Sept. 19, 7 p.m. Parents first meet in the cafeteria, then circulate following the student’s timetable, meeting each teacher in the classrooms.

School pictures will be taken on Sept. 19 and 20, using the cafeteria stage.

St. Thomas University will be visiting student services at lunch on Sept. 24, while University of Calgary will be at Colonel Gray on Sept. 25 after school.

Colonel Gray’s Terry Fox Run will be held on Sept. 26.
