Ceilidh in the City welcomes award-winning musicians
The Ceilidh in the City will welcome two of the Island’s finest musicians to its stage on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 7:30 p.m., at the Jack Blanchard Centre in Charlottetown - Gordon Belsher and Richard Wood.
One of the Island’s most travelled and seasoned fiddlers, Wood has performed around the globe over the past two decades, performing for world leaders and on national television shows. He has spent years perfecting his craft, playing fiery jigs and reels that keep guests tapping their toes all night long.
He will be joined by Belsher, an Island musician who has toured the world performing in folk and traditional music festivals as a solo performer and alongside fiddlers like Wood, Cynthia MacLeod and others.
As a producer, he has received ECMA and Music P.E.I. awards for his recording work produced from his Guernsey Cove Parlour Productions.
Wood and Belsher will join the weekly ceilidh hosts Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Brian Blacquiere, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox at the venue, located just off Queen Street at 7 Pond St. on Wednesday.
It’s general admission at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a bar service and a canteen service offer by the catering staff of the Jack Blanchard Centre will all sorts of tasty treats and hot and cold beverages. A nightly 50/50 draw in support of the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund will see money raised donated to various Island charities and families in financial need.
