The ceilidh on Friday, Sept. 27, in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall at the Irish Cultural Centre will feature Pendergast family members David Pendergast, Tom McSwiggan and Andy Doucette.

Musician Michael John Richard will also perform with the trio.

There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the wheelchair-accessible and airconditioned hall. A lunch will be served during intermission. The hall is licensed. The show starts at 8 p.m. Admission price is at the door, which opens at 7 p.m. For more information, call 902213-3924.

Pendergast plays guitar and sings lead vocals. His influences are Stompin' Tom, Steve Earle, Freddy Eaglesmith and the Irish group, The Pogues. He and McSwiggan, who is his uncle, will share the stage providing plenty of witty rapport and funny stories. Pendergast is a member of the Pendergast clan that is known for high-energy kitchen parties.

McSwiggan is originally from County Tyrone, Ireland. He is the master of the button accordion and holds court with many comical stories collected over his 83 years. He is also the founder of the long-running Malpeque Ceilidh and Stanley Bridge Ceilidh, which still run weekly on the North Shore through the summer and fall seasons.

Doucette is from Deblois and is a multi-instrumentalist – a fiddler who also plays guitar and bass.

He will bring an Acadian flair to the night with his lively fiddling and fast tapping feet.

Richard, who plays bass, guitar and mandolin, will accompany the other members of the group throughout the night.

?? SUBMITTED ?? Tom McSwiggan, along with family members David Pendergast and Andy Doucette, will perform with musician Michael John Richard at the Benevolent Irish Society in Charlottetown on Friday, Sept. 27.
