Tenth annual Evangeline Country Music Festival begins today in Abram-Village

Country music performers will take the stage at the 10th annual Evangeline Country Music Festival, beginning today and running until Oct. 13, at the Acadian Musical Village, Abram-Village.

The first show today is the Legends of Country Music at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. Paid admission is at the door only.

Over 20 local country music performers will take the stage to pay tribute to country music legends such as George Jones, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Zacharie Richard, Tammy Wynette and many more.

Participan­ts will also try their luck at performing the sound of various farm animals in an all-fun contest, and there will be prizes for the best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl.. In addition, there will be a 50/50 draw and lunch will be available. This activity is reserved to 19 years

and over.

The festival continues on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 8:30 p.m., with the ever-popular country music stage show “Tip To Tip Hoedown” with the high-energy group of P.E.I. performers that includes Peggy Clinton, Johnny Ross, Alphy Perry, Vincent and Cathy Doucette and Steve Perry.

It’s a big music party and dancing space will be available.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Acadian Musical Village or from Clinton. They will also be available at the door. This activity is also reserved to adults 19 years and over. Cowboy hats and boots are encouraged.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, the Cowboy\girl Musical Brunch runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast and dinner dishes with roast turkey and all the trimmings will be available along with delicious homemade desserts, tea, coffee and juice. Music will be provided by Paula Arsenault, Marie Arsenault and Robert Doucette.

Everyone is invited for an enjoyable country music weekend. Campground Terre Rouge will still be open.
