Saturday, Oct. 26, 5-7 p.m., for annual beans and wieners supper put on by St. John's United Church, Mt. Stewart, at the Mt. Stewart Community Centre. Tickets are $8, with five and under free. They are available at the door or by contacting Shirley Affleck at 676-2549. Come out and enjoy homemade beans, biscuits, rolls, sweets and lots of socializing.
Saturday, Oct. 26, for the fall roast beef dinner put on by Central Queens United Church, Hunter River. Enjoy all the tasty trimmings with delicious desserts. Browse the bazaar table with home-baking and crafts. There are two seatings: 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Take-outs are available for pick-up at 3 p.m. Tickets are $16/ adult, $7 for children six to 12 years and free for children under 6 years of age. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2 p.m., for the Latin American Mission Program (LAMP) 28th annual Daniel O’Hanley Memorial Lecture at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Hall, 151 Stratford Rd., Stratford. The presenter is Qajaq Robinson. The topic of the lecture is Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls: it is time to listen. Entertainment and refreshments will follow the lecture.
Monday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m., for the Canoe Cove Community Association annual general meeting. All residents of Canoe Cove are members of the CCCA and are invited to attend. The meeting will be held at the Canoe Cove Schoolhouse. Come meet neighbours and participate in the local community association.
Saturday, Nov. 2, 3:30-7 p.m., for the Winsloe United Church roast beef dinner. Ticket prices are adults, $20, children, 12 and under, $10, and children, six and under, no charge. A bluegrass gospel concert, featuring the Stiff Family Singers, will be held Oct. 13, 7 p.m., at Clyde River Baptist Church. There will be a freewill offering.

A free renal nutrition tour will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1-3 p.m., at Sobeys West Royalty. The Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, will be having a brown bag lunch on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 11:30 a.m. Marie Surkan from Island Waste Management will talk about What Goes Where. She will explain how to sort recyclables, what goes for compost and waste. Bring some sorting questions and she will have the answers.
Cards/Cribbage/ Crokinole
Vernon River Progressive 45s cards are every Tuesday at St. Joachim's Parish Hall, 7:30 p.m. There are prizes, a toonie pot and lunch served.
