Joel Walker’s third-period goal sent the Campbellton Tigers to a 4-3 win over the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals in the Maritime Junior Hockey League on Monday night.

Walker’s game-winning tally at 3:51 came 18 seconds after Brodie MacArthur’s power-play goal evened the score for the Caps. It was MacArthur’s second of the night.

Pascal Valcourt (1-1), Josh Crooks and Maxime Charest also scored for the Tigers, who improved to 5-2-1 before 960 fans at the Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre.

Gianluca Fuoco netted the other goal for the Caps (8-3-0), who entered the game having won three games in a row and seven of eight. Bennett MacArthur (2), Zach Thususka, Colby MacArthur and Kallum Muirhead chipped in with assists.

The Tigers led 1-0 after the opening period and the teams were tied 2-2 following 40 minutes.

The Caps held a 35-32 shotson-goal advantage. Tristan Gray was the winning goaltender and Dominik Tmej took the loss.

Referees Jeff Silliker and Alex Estrabrooks called just three minor penalties in the game – two of those against Campbellton – and the teams played a penalty-free second period. The game’s three stars were: 1. Joel Walker (Tigers), 2. Pascal Valcourt (Tigers), 3. Brodie MacArthur (Caps).

The Caps return to action on Friday in Truro, N.S., against the Bearcats (2-6-3) and the Tigers pay a return visit to Summerside on Saturday.

Game time at Eastlink Arena is set for 7 p.m.
